Smile is the Best Prescription : Kingfisher Ultra Bengal Fashion Week

Kolkata saw
its first fashion week this year in association with Kingfisher Ultra and
Signature with 40 models and 10 designers showcasing their extraordinary
collections with a blend of glitz and glamour. With three days of haute couture
(February 21-23) which brought designers from various parts of India ie. Mumbai,
Bangalore, Delhi and Kolkata at the same platform together was indeed a
lifetime event for all the fashion geeks at Kolkata organized by the Storm
Fashion Company at Galaxy, Park Hotel, Kolkata.

The first
day of Kingfisher Ultra Bengal Fashion Week where ace designers Jaya Mishra,
Agnimitra Paul and Jyoti Sachdev Iyer rocked the stage with the beautiful
amalgam of grace and elegance. To start with, Jaya Mishra who named her
collection ‘Gaja Gamini’ inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci’s Painting ‘Monalisa’
was a perfect experiment with colours. Apart from showcasing her exquisite
collections, renowned Singer Shabab Fardi of ‘Jashn e Ishqua’ fame added a
different flavor to the event with the Sufi numbers. The dashing actress Mumtaz
Sarkar was the showstopper.
Agnimitra Paul, who dedicated her entire collection
to the ‘Women of Substance’ showcasing the unique combination of Baluchari,
Dhakai, Taat and Katha with a touch of roots of our very own Sonar Bangla.
Eminent actress Rituparna Sengupta, Arjuna Award winner Poulami Ghatak and Doc.
Sashi Panja walked the ramp for Agnimitra Paul. And last but not the least,
with the violins playing in the background which created a heavenly environment,
Jyoti Sachdev Iyer presented her fascinating collection inspired by the vintage
of 1950’s eras consists of drapes. Former Miss India World Natasha Suri was the
Showstopper along with Richa Chadda, Kingfisher Calender 2014 girl Ketholeno
Kense and Sonika Chauhan who also graced the event.

Ultra Bengal Fashion Week Day 2 started with a special tribute to the political
scenario of India by Designer duo Mona and Pali where they focused on various
surface textures playing with fabric. Designer
AD Singh who is well known for his bridal collections and obsession for Swarovski
crystals left the audience unturned with his splendid collection of bridal lehengas,
gowns and floor length Anarkali. Gorgeous Indian actress Reshmi Ghosh was the
showstopper for the event.
For the second show, it was none other than Priyanka
Chopra’s sister Meera Chopra of ‘Gangs of Ghosts’ fame who scorched the ramp as
a showstopper for Jatin Kocchar showcasing
his collection of sultry blacks and bright whites representing duality in our
life’s. To end the dazzling journey of Day 2, was Ace designer Rocky S who showcased
his glamorous resort collection with Tollywood heartthrob Koyel Mallick as a
showstopper. Also present were Bollywood actress Riya Sen, who added some extra
essence to the glamour and glitz of the event.
